AP Exams
What is AP?
The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program® (AP®) enables willing and academically prepared students to pursue college-level studies — with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement or both — while still in high school. AP Exams are given each year in May. A score of 3 or higher on an AP Exam can typically earn students college credit and/or placement into advanced courses in college. Use the AP Credit Policy Search linked below to find policies for specific colleges/universities and courses.

Requesting Accommodations for National Exams
Accommodations for national testing are very different from accommodations provided on state assessments and in the classroom. Families must initiate the process to request accommodations for national exams, and the process varies between the two major exam organizations - ACT and The College Board (which administers the PSAT, SAT, and AP Exams).
College Board Accommodations (PSAT, SAT, AP)
Accommodation requests for College Board exams may take several weeks, so it is important to begin the process early. Once a student has been approved for College Board accommodations, those accommodations will be applied to all future College Board exams throughout high school.
To be eligible to request accommodations for national exams, students must meet one of the following requirements:
- Have an identified disability and 504 plan or IEP, and receive and routinely utilize the requested accommodations on classroom tests.
- Be an English Learner (EL) as identified state and federal policy. (Please note that EL supports are only available for the PSAT 8/9, PSAT 10, and SAT School Day assessments. Click here for more information.)
Accommodation Request Deadlines:
- Fall PSAT School Day - August, 19, 2024
- Spring SAT School Day - January 13, 2025
- AP Exams - January 24, 2025
Before submitting a request for College Board accommodations, review the information at the links below carefully:
- Accommodations on College Board Exams
- Who is Eligible?
- Available Accommodations
- How Accommodations Work for Each Test
- How Students Can Practice
- Advice for Students and Families
Submit requests for College Board accommodations by completing the steps below:
- Download and complete the following items:
- Parent Consent Form
- Teacher Survey Form (optional)
- For the highest chance of success on having accommodations approved, it is best to have the Teacher Survey Form completed by the student's core content teachers indicating the need for, and use of accommodations on consistent basis.
- Fill out the College Board Accommodations Request form.
- Return completed Parent Consent Form and any Teacher Survey Form(s) to Mr. Montemayor in the AP Office or email to Daniel.Montemayor@kellerisd.net.
Once the items above have been completed, your request will be submitted to College Board with two school days. You will be notified via email once your request has been reviewed by College Board and a decision has been made. Any approved accommodations will be provided on all subsequent College Board exams a student takes during their high school career.
ACT Accommodations
For the ACT exam, a need for accommodations must be indicated during the registration process for a specific test. Once registered, you will receive an email prompting you to take further action, which includes forwarding the email to your school official, along with the completed ACT Consent Form. Travis Brewer manages weekend administrations of the ACT. Please forward the necessary items to Travis.Brewer@kellerisd.net.
Please visit the ACT Accommodations website for more information.
